Piers Morgan and Donald Trump: The 'Love' Story...

Last Sunday night, the British public were 'treated' to a brown nosing, rectum licking contest between two of the world's most controversial and despised men.

Piers Morgan, the man best known for overseeing the hacking of a dead girl's phone, interviewed America's answered to the question: "what happens if you leave a human too close to a radiator for too long?"... Donald Trump.

To say that the country was excited for this interview would be a massive misjudgment on the public's views and comments. It was teased for weeks prior to it's airing on ITV. Despite not following Piers Morgan on Twitter, my timeline was filled with teasers and trailers to perk my interest; each one of those failed.

Although, I decided that I would put myself through the hell that was this television show. Who knows? Maybe I was going to be pleasantly surprised.

Narrator: He would not be pleasantly surprised.

The (somehow) President of the United States walked into the room containing his 'friend' and greeted him with a firm "I've missed you." The sort of thing you'd hear the enemy of James Bond say after Bond has been held hostage for a few days.

Within minutes of the interview starting, I found myself cringing as the two batted compliments back at each other like a terrible tennis match.

"Ooooo you're hair is so nice."

"You were so good when you won The Apprentice."

*DISCLAIMER* These weren't actual quotes, but they were pretty much along those lines.

What the interview really revealed was how delusional Trump is. And you can't tell if the man if lying or is simply too ignorant or stupid to understand what he's attempting to say. He was asked about his possible/upcoming visit to the UK, which has constantly been delayed amid the likelihood of protests, but Trump simply replied to Morgan's statement - "a lot of stuff has been going on between you and my country" - without even a hint of sarcasm; "I think I'm very popular in your country."

He attempted to back this up with some very poor 'facts' like that he owns Turnberry golf course. It was just mind blowing to watch this unfold.

Once the complimentaries had stopped, it was time for Piers Morgan to throw some had hitting questions at Trump like "do you actually tweet yourself?" and "you're half British right?".

Trump retweeted unverified videos from Britain First.
One of the biggest parts of the interview that was teased for weeks was about the Britain First tweets that The President of the United States retweeted, supposedly depicting radical Islamic terror - when really they were videos that were showing nothing of the sort.

The clip that was constantly shoved in our faces was of Piers Morgan asking Donald Trump "can we get any apology from you?". Was Trump going to apologise for those Britain First tweets?
No. He skated round the apology playing dumb to the source of the tweets and that he knew "nothing about them [Britain First]" without ever actually saying sorry. Now, I don't know what Piers Morgan was listening to, but whatever it was cued him to say after all that "thank you, Mr. President." Huh?

The President remained vague on almost every issue, giving us the very scientific explanation of climate change that it gets very hot and very cold... But at least he was honest when he said he wasn't a feminist. Makes your really think what else was true...?

As well as showing a side we were all too familiar with from Trump, it also highlighted Morgan's interview technique when facing someone of any significance and someone considered a friend - which can simply be described as weak. On any question he ask, he just rolled over and had his belly tickled as Trump did everything to avoid actually answering any question.

This came after Piers Morgan bragged on Twitter about getting the interview that no media outlet could. This says more about the President's hatred for anything outside what he knows rather than Piers Morgan's ability to pull great interviews. If anything, Piers Morgan only got the interview because the Trump administration knew that his questioning would be easy and would allow The President to get away with not really saying anything.

Even when questioning Donald Trump on something very close to his heart, gun crime and control in America, he let the President slide without pushing him beyond some basic fact sharing. It was almost embarrassing to see someone who is apparently one of the best journalists out there - with hit stories such as "is your baby a bigot?" - gain nothing from an interview with the most powerful man in the world.

He humored the President and took every word said to him as gospel. Quite frankly it made for some of the worst television I have witnessed. Because how could he challenge the man he considered a 'friend' and that crowned him the winner of The Apprentice nearly 10 years ago.
